Celebrate National Kitten Day with Clowder Press. Kittens are essentially start-up cats , so of course we want to encourage  the feisty little furballs , as they are the felines of the future. Technically, cats are kittens from birth to one year old, so from adorable fluff bundle to adorable teenage dirtbag , when they graduate to being worshipped on one or all of the many other National Cat  Days . 

Of course, kittens don’t actually need a special day as they pump out the Cute Factor on full beam from day one, but you can never have enough abject adoration.  

NKD was established in 2012 by pet lifestyle expert and animal advocate Colleen Paige, to encourage more people to adopt or foster stray kittens.  She recommends marking the day with extra treats, playing with your kittens, new toys, lashings of attention, favourite food etc  but Belvedere and I are not convinced this will cut it , as any self-respecting kitten gets this every day as part of the t & cs of consenting to share your home.  We must try harder.

Note: Humans call the young of other animals kittens or kits - badgers, ferrets, muskrats, rabbits, skunks, squirrels, weasels, woodchucks , polecats all start out as kittens.  Let’s be quite clear, this day is definitely not for them.
