Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day
Wednesday, 29 January 2025 11:31
It’s Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day once more. We covered this in the post of 29 January 2024, so you will know that today is not to be confused with Tuxie Appreciation Day on 9 September or National Tuxedo Cat Day on 29 November. See our posts for both these days in 2024 (9 and 28 November 2024).
This is not a problem of course, as It is very easy to appreciate tuxies on all three days, and indeed for the whole of the year. They are supersmart in all senses of the word, clever, dapper, self-assured, and always perfectly dressed whatever the occasion.
While looking for great tuxie achievements or legends to help us focus our appreciation, Roger and I came across the alleged exploits of Roderick, the tuxie who climbed Mt Everest. Or at least was carried up there by his sherpa butler.
Roger is deeply sceptical about this. No date is given for this feat, and no verifiable source can be found. Do write in if you know better. Ask yourself. Would a Tibetan or Nepalese cat really be called Roderick? Does being carried up the mountain qualify as actually climbing it? Would an experienced sherpa waste energy and resources hauling Roderick up to the summit? I suppose he could have been a valuable heat source.
It all seems very unlikely.
The point is, of course, that only a tuxie would think of spinning such an outrageous Trump-scale boast, and know they would get away with it. So go Tuxies, you may not have got anywhere near base camp, but you know how to create a compelling legend. Nobody really believes it, but everybody would like it to be true.
That is why we appreciate you.
